IDE Corp. has designed a number of STEM LATIC schools (LATIC is our framework for putting students in charge of their own learning: Learner-Active, Technology-Infused Classroom).
IDE Corp.'s "Design Process" involves six interdependent steps.
Why STEM? — Introduce students to the possibility of a career in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
What? — Build in students the mindset of the scientist, technologist, engineer, and mathematician.
How? — STEM All Day, Every Day
1) Introduce all students to "Design Thinking" — a methodical approach to design that can be applied to any subject area, any problem.
2) Engage students in studying all subject areas through real-world problems and challenges using a design process (e.g., you can use design process to generate a poem!).
3) Build the vocabulary of design thinking into the language of all classrooms.
4) Design curriculum in all subject areas to foster the STEM mindsets.
